Obituary for Susie Lee Gassett

Susie Lee Gibbs Gassett, age 94, of Berea, KY departed this life on February 14, 2017. She was a native of Madison County Kentucky and the daughter of the late Sam and Georgia Gibbs.

She was a devoted member of New Liberty Baptist Church where she served as Mt. Pleasant District Missionary as financial secretary emirtus, Church Clerk, Treasurer of Ladies Aid Club, President of Missionary Society, and Ladies Sunday School Teacher.

She was united in marriage to the Late Virgil Gassett and to this union 4 children were born and still survive. Homer (Diane) Gassett, Rev. Lawrence (Ruth) Gassett, Linda (Rev. Larry) Allen, and Brenda Gassett.

She leaves to cherish her memory brother-in-law Floyd Gassett, brother Sam (Ida) Gibbs, grandchildren Mahisha, Andreitta, Alisha, 6 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brother Burford, 5 sisters Henrietta, Martha, Helen, Geneva, and Sarah, and grandchild Andray Gassett.

Funeral service will be 1:00pm Saturday Feb. 18, 2017 at the New Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Alfonzo Kenny officiating. Burial will follow in the Bobtown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roger Hinton, Jim Cornelison, Lamont Cornelison, Bernard Denny, Gregory Kennedy, and Calvin Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacon Jimmy Tevis, and Deacon Donald Thompson. Visitation will be 11:00am till service time at the church. Davis & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

4-9 pm Thursday, Nov.17, 2016 and 4-5:30 pm Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at Davis & Powell

6:00 pm Friday, November 18, 2016 at Saint Clare Catholic Church
