Obituary for James Thomas (Tom) Hendricks

James Thomas (Tom) Hendricks, age 69, died peacefully, Sunday, January 8th 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. He was a cattle farmer, and retired from Berea College Utilities. He was a member of Kentucky Farm Bureau, Madison County Cattleman's Association, and a former board member of the Madison County Conservation District. Mr. Hendricks was a member of the Silver Creek Baptist Church. He also served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and had been a member of American Legion Post #50.

Mr. Hendricks was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Lee Moody Hendricks and his father James Thomas Hines, a granddaughter, Amberlyn Gabbard, and two sisters, Jane Allen Hines, and Cindy Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Williams Hendricks, his daughters, Mickie Ann Gabbard of Nicholasville, KY., Jackie Joann Isaacs of Berea, KY., Brittany Nicole (Chris) Waddle of Richmond, KY., a son Kash C. Smith, two step-sons, Michael Jason (Melonie) Napier, and Travis E. (Alexis) Smith all of Berea, KY., three half-brothers, Randy, and Greg Hines both of Pennsylvania and Barry Hines of South Carolina. Several grandchildren and one great grandson also survive.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Silver Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Manse Cemetery at Paint Lick, KY., with full military honors. Pallbearers will be, Bennie Gay, Jerry Moody, Mike Moody, Larry Moody, Steve Moody, and Clyde Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be, Fred Davis, James Short, Curtis Lester, Bradley Montgomery, David Thacker, and Preston Seals. Visitation will be 10:30 am until the service Thursday at the church.
